Tipped employees

Employers in Michigan can pay tipped employees a cash wage of $5.49 an hour, taking a tip credit of up to $8.24, as long as tips bring the employee to at least $13.73 for every hour worked. If they don't, the employer makes up the difference.

Youth and training wages

Employees under 18 may be paid 85% of the minimum wage; new employees under 20 may be paid a $4.25 training wage for their first 90 days.
